The Healthcare system is stacked against people with intellectual & Developmental disabilities (IDD)…
And we must change it together. We need a healthcare system that fits people with IDD, and not the other way around. We need “A Whole New Ballgame.”
That’s why AADMD’s conference planning committee chose “A Whole New Ballgame: Changing Healthcare Together” as our 2024 theme. We’ll explore how to create systemic change to better serve the IDD patient population through our four tracks: Curriculum Innovation, Transformational Leadership, Aging & Brain Health and Intersectionality to Inclusion.
To kickoff the conference we’ll watch the White Sox vs Cubs game at Harry Caray’s (nextdoor to the hotel) on Wednesday - the night before the conference starts!
This is the only conference that brings ALL health disciplines together in One Voice for Inclusive Health.
Conference Tracks
This track highlights the work health professionals are doing to create new curriculum that center people with IDD, incorporating innovative methods and meaningful collaborations.
This track examines the the cumulative way in which people with IDD experience multiple forms of discrimination (such as racism, sexism, and classism) and how these experiences combine, overlap, or intersect resulting in unique combinations of “double disparities.”
Lead by The National Task Group on Aging and Dementia (NTG), this track covers how to care for people with IDD that are aging and new research within this ever-changing area.
This track focuses on the leadership qualities and actions that lead to true change for people with IDD within the healthcare world.
This Track is an opportunity for attendees to learn and develop clinical skills in treating patients with IDD.
