The Institute

a supplementary educational & networking program for students, residents & entry-level clinicians at the AADMD Annual Conference.

A Unique Learning Experience

The AADMD institute is a supplementary educational opportunity and discussion forum for students, residents and early-career professionals. The goal of the Institute is to address the core competencies of IDD health care and career development. There will be a formal pre and post assessment for all participants with the opportunity to receive a certificate of participation. Be sure to register below to secure your spot.

What’s Included?

Tailored track

Participants can follow a Tailored Track of the conference, which is a set of suggested presentations that may be most applicable for students and residents. We will also hold 1-hour Institute Sessions after each day to reconnect and discuss the day's content.

Students and residents will also get to participate in networking sessions with students from other schools and AADMD student chapters. Participants are encouraged to collaborate and develop projects designed to serve patients with IDD at their respective schools.

New this year, participants will get to attend a special mentoring dinner — made possible by Anthem — in which each student or resident will be matched with a senior member AADMD mentor matching your interests and needs. The evening will include dinner & drinks at Ox and Stone restaurant, near the hotel.

Scholarships Available

We have a limited number of scholarships available to help students cover the cost of attending the conferences.

Scholarships will be up to $1000 each and can be used to cover the cost of registration, travel and lodging.

How to apply?

To apply for a scholarship, just register for the conference as a student/resident and make sure you indicate on the form that you’d also like to be considered for a scholarship (you can’t miss it!).

When is the deadline?

The deadline for scholarships is April 8. After that date, if all scholarships are not allocated, they will be allocated on a rolling basis. Our goal is to notify recipients within 1 week of the due date for scholarships.

Q: How do I participate in The Institute?

A: When you register as a student/resident for the conference, you will automatically be registered for the institute as well.

Q: If I do not receive a scholarship, I will not be able to attend the conference. Can I apply for a scholarship without registering?

A: Yes! Go through the registration process and select student scholarship at check out. If you receive a scholarship, you will be asked to go back and edit your registration and pay for the registration fee.

Q: When will I receive scholarship funds if I am awarded a scholarship?

A: Scholarships are allocated by reimbursement after the conference has been completed, so please be sure to save all receipts! If you have an extenuating circumstance or concerns, please contact us directly.
