This is not a conference that simply highlights the health disparity people with IDD continue to experience – but it’s a place to discover and explore so that we, as clinicians, can ensure people with IDD get the best healthcare has to offer.

When No One is Looking

Integrity is doing the right thing when no one is looking. This is a concept we depend on daily in medicine. We depend on health professionals to give people with IDD (intellectual & developmental disabilities) equal access to ventilators, transplants, surgeries, lifesaving measures - when we are not looking.

In times of pandemic, natural disasters, and global conflicts - that integrity is tested. In Ukraine, we saw people with disabilities cut off from support and supplies. Here at home, people with disabilities were denied ventilators with preference given to neurotypical patients during the pandemic. Natural disasters - like the earthquakes in Turkey or the winter storm that pummeled upstate New York earlier this year - pull back the curtain on our patient population and often times the vulnerable are left behind.

That's why organizations like ours exist. We must continue our fight for inclusive health, so people with IDD are seen, heard and - most importantly - included in their own healthcare. We are ONE VOICE with self-advocates fighting for equal access to care - especially during uncertain times. This year we'll hear from the AMA, the ADA, the CDC, NIH and FEMA through the lens of our conference focus, “Navigating Uncertainty: How to prepare, pivot and pilot Inclusive Health during unknown times.”

This is not a conference that simply highlights the health disparity people with IDD continue to experience – but it's a place to discover and explore so that we, as clinicians, can ensure people with IDD get the best healthcare has to offer.

Thank you for joining us in ONE VOICE and for making the world a more inclusive place.

Inclusively yours,

Carl Tyler, MD, MSc | AADMD President

What is One Voice?

One Voice for Inclusive Health is AADMD’s annual educational conference, held every year since 2002. We believe it takes one voice to make a difference and there’s one voice — the voice of a person with IDD — that needs to be heard. People with IDD experience a healthcare disparity in the US, and through our annual training and partnerships, we work to reverse that inequality.

The One Voice conference brings business leaders and IDD professionals together for education, advocacy and to ignite change.

During this conference, attendees will hear from top keynote speakers, meet companies and political leaders paving the way for inclusive health, participate in topical panel discussions and breakout sessions, earn Medical or Dental CE - not to mention network with top health professionals dedicated to the IDD population.

We invite you to join us in one voice - as a Sponsor, Exhibitor or Attendee.

Let’s ignite change together.

What is AADMD?

American Academy of Developmental Medicine & Dentistry (AADMD) is a non-profit organization of interdisciplinary medical professionals including physicians, dentists, optometrists, neurologists and other clinicians committed to improving the quality of healthcare for people with IDD.

Since 2002, the AADMD has connected clinicians across the world and prepared them to face the unique challenges in caring for people with IDD. The organization provides curriculum to schools, IDD training for clinicians and specialized information to families and caretakers in language that is easy to understand. Above all, AADMD aims to make sure that no person with IDD is left without access to quality health services.

They are difference makers for people with IDD.
